Birth of a Twinning

In 1969, after meeting a couple of hotels, Mr. and Mrs. Filser Oberstdorf
and the Mayor of this German city, Gibert Lebescond, Mayor of Megeve, imagine the possibility of twinning.



On October 7, 1969, Gilbert Lebescond, escorted by his town clerk Peter Feige more advisers and friends, came as a delegation at the Hotel Filser Oberstdorf.

This is Louis-Maillet Contoz, Edward Feige, Orset Roland Michel Gachet, Colette and Albert Fugier.
Erna Gay is also there as an interpreter because few of them practice German. The
Mayor of Oberstdorf welcomes them warmly with several members of its board which Sybil Armidstead who speaks French. It was love at first sight!

October 8, the visit takes place in the city, baths,
springboard ... ... etc.. ... The site is wonderful and enthusiastically Megevan.

Here is an excerpt from the minutes of the City Council meeting of November 12, 1969:
".... Hear the minutes of the Mayor about the contacts which took place between Megève and the German resort of Oberstdorf in order a match. It is certain that this twinning could be very useful to the resort of Megeve because similarity of the activities of each station and opportunities for cultural exchanges and youth sports.
Decides accordingly to vote pairing between Megeve and Oberstdorf. "The

Twinning is signed with great fanfare and the euphoria of a big wedding.

The constitution of the association is established at the General Meeting of April 3, 1970.
